Coronavirus Update

Updated   May 11th, 2020

Dear Patients and Families,

We have missed you! We hope everyone has been doing well during this time.

Your smile is always important – but perhaps now more than ever!  At Tavarez Orthodontics we are proud to be a part of this process.

We are happy to announce per the California Dental Association and the State of California that we will be able to reopen for all appointments.
Infection control has always been a top priority at Tavarez Orthodontics. Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).  We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new guidance that may be issued.  Our primary focus is to protect the health and well-being of our team members and patients while continuing to offer the quality orthodontic treatment our patients have come to expect.

Some of the changes we have implemented for the office during this time include:
  • Patient supplemental health questionnaire required prior to each appointment
  • In-office patient temperature screening prior to every appointment
  • In-office dental mouth rinses prior to every appointment
  • Tavarez team daily health screenings
  • New office barriers and social distancing protocols
  • Medical grade air filtration
  • Virtual appointments in a variety of formats
  • Texting software to facilitate patient arrival
  • Reduced number of patients seen per day
  • Additional disinfection protocols
  • Removal of magazines from the reception area as these are difficult to disinfect
Pre-Appointment Information:
  • Appointments previously scheduled in March, April and May have all been cancelled.
  • All appointments and procedures at this time are considered essential and high priority.
  • You will automatically receive a new appointment date and time via text and email, please be patient.
  • Appointments are being assigned based on timing of original appointment
  • You MUST confirm the appointment assigned to you within 48 hours or it may be cancelled.
  • If you need to cancel your assigned appointment, there may be a delay in rescheduling. If you need to reschedule, please call the office at (650) 329-9600.
  • The office is open for virtual appointments (non scheduled) and zoom appointments (call the office at (650) 329-9600 to schedule).
  • Please sign the COVID-19 informed consent (one time). If we DO NOT have this, we are unable to proceed with the appointment.
  • Please fill out and sign the Supplemental Health Questionnaire (day of each appointment) before entering the office.  If you are under 18 years old, please have a parent sign.
  • Please brush your teeth prior to arrival as our brushing station is closed at this time.
Appointment Day Information:
  • All patients and parents must wear face masks when in the office.
  • We will no longer use our sign-in computer.  Instead we ask that patients please text (650) 229-5646 with your full name once you have arrived in the parking lot.  When we are ready to see you for your appointment, we will send you a text to come into the office.
  • We ask that parents drop off patients and stay in their car.  We will contact you when your child’s appointment is over for updates and to schedule the next appointment.  If your child is unable to be alone, we ask that only one parent accompany the patient.
  • Only patients are allowed in the treatment area.
  • Maintain 6 feet of social distance when in the reception area.
We are grateful for your patience and for the trust you have put in us as a healthcare provider.

We have been closely following the recommendations of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association and American Association of Orthodontics and are doing all things possible to keep our team, patients and their families safe and healthy.

Once again we thank you for your patience and understanding. We look forward to seeing all of our patients and families back in the office again.

Live Life Smiling,

Dr. Tavarez and Team
